Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Some of the best electronic music ever made came from O.M.D. around 30 years ago, and I am so happy to report that they have returned to form.  Not only with new music but with a new track that seems to stem directly from their 'Dazzle Ship' era.  This is spectacular!

David Bowie

Let's start out 2013 celebrating the birthday of a legend and his brand new song "Where are we now?".  This song appears to be a bit of a nod toward Berlin, with Bowie's trademark cryptic lyrics holding your hand through the ride.  His voice has noticeably aged a bit, but it fits this song and gives it that unique touch of stoicism that is wonderfully delivered by this classic artist who has seen and given so much.

Ultravox!

The ultimate pioneer in the mixture of organic real instruments with more modern synth based sounds was definitely Ultravox.  Here they are from way back in the 70's performing their own form of tribute to nostalgic film imagery. This performance in particular contains a lyrical content that is relevant to the possible END OF THE WORLD tomorrow.  Hope you enjoy this little blurb all future alien anthropologists.

Whorish Boorish

There is a certain thickness in the air in Miami that can't be explained properly with words. It is almost like something is bubbling up from the pavement and plaster that keeps most people on the surface.  If you manage to fall in, or let yourself surrender and  slip backwards into those bubbles you'll discover just why Miami is dubbed the "Magic City".  Take a listen to this wondrous, bubbly track and feel yourself encapsulated by a true sorceress.

There was a time many years ago when songwriters were not afraid to go against conventional thoughts of what was believed to have value and instead, represent alternative viewpoints such as the function of underrated states of being that trumped those things we erroneously think of as having weight or merit.  This tune is a classic example of this.  In this track the singer eschews all the trappings of successful or heralded accolades in exchange for the one powerful thing he holds as value above all else.  Love.
